Energy – Organization – Alignment – Consciousness
I propose a context in which to practice the elements that for me are important and invisible in any technical language of movement, and which help us access them from quality, coherence and pleasure. These for me are energy, breathing, alignment and organization of the different systems of our organism, which we will study and explore through practices that stimulate awareness of movement and allow us to expand our limits from a gentle and efficient place. We will base ourselves on the knowledge of somatic practices, especially the Feldenkrais Method as a vehicle to study and practice the principles or mechanics of movement, placing the vision and attention on the information that exists in everything that happens internally before the movement becomes visible.
My intention is to guide through different energetic and somatic practices to learn the technique from within, reconnecting with the intuition, organic and somatic intelligence that we possess innately.
The classes will be organized with a first part of activating energy and breathing to generate a state of availability and presence, paying attention to the alignment of our central axis, the spine, work inspired by the practice of katsugen Undo and the Keep Moving Method. We will then pay attention to different anatomical relationships that will open up new possibilities for movement, expanding its range and quality.
We will integrate everything learned during the session through improvisations and games, with simple choreographic sequences that will allow us to order the information, and relate it to the dialogue with others, space, and music. Finally, we will access a creative state where we can connect with our own originality and language of movement.
** Payment and class recovery policy: Each student can recover 2 classes if they take the entire course and 1 class if they take half a course, by coming to a session of another course organized by La Visiva (Introduction to contemporary dance with Mireia de Querol, Introduction to contemporary dance with Maria Hernando or Practices around the body and creation with Èlia Genís). Once the course payment has been made, money cannot be refunded, nor can sessions be saved for another course or quarter.
Biography
Èlia Genís Rodríguez
Èlia Genís Rodríguez holds a degree in Choreography and Interpretation from the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona. She is a somatic educator and certified teacher of the Feldenkrais Method, expanding her training in this line through Body Mind Centering. Her interest is developing towards an investigation of somatic practices applied in the field of performing arts and movement. She is a dance therapist, interested in the psychophysical processes of the person.
She started in classical dance trained by the Royal Academy of Ballet, but from a very young age she expanded the concept of dance towards a more performative perspective, where dance, theater and the arts come together, directing her interest towards contemporary creation. She was introduced to the field of performance by the choreographer Mercedes Boronat, with whom she collaborated for over twenty years as a dancer in several of her stage shows as well as in different pedagogical proposals from which she disseminated her methodology for actors and dancers, as well as social and community projects such as El cos respira, a project promoted by the La Caixa Foundation. This contact creates a personal way of approaching the scene, making creation in action, improvisation and instant composition her main working tools. She has also collaborated as a dancer with Sabine Dahrendorf, Aimar Galí, Pietro Marullo, Montse Roig, Pau Aran, Lipi Hernández, Javier Guerrero, Irene García La Quebrá, Magdalena Garzón, Raquel Klein among others.
